Beschrijving voorzijde Facing head of Hermes rendered in fine Classical style, turned very slightly to the left, framed by loose curling locks of hair falling to either side. The god wears a broad-brimmed petasus adorned along its lower rim with a prominent row of beads or pellets. The modeling of the facial features is accomplished and naturalistic, with softly rendered eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. No legend appears in the field.

Beschrijving keerzijde A goat stands in profile to the right within a shallow incuse square, rendered with careful attention to musculature and posture, its head turned forward and its long beard and swept-back horns clearly delineated. To the lower right of the animal, a rhyton (drinking horn) is depicted as a subsidiary symbol. The ethnic legend ΑΙΝΙΟΝ is inscribed in Greek characters above the goat in the upper field of the incuse square, identifying the issuing city of Ainos in Thrace.
