The god wears a broad-brimmed petasos adorned along its rim with a beaded border, framing his youthful, idealised visage. Wavy locks of hair fall loosely to either side of the face, framing finely modelled facial features including large almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The portrait exhibits the accomplished Greek artistic style characteristic of early fourth-century BC Thracian coinage, with a naturalistic rendering of facial anatomy and soft, rounded forms. |
