Reverse description A bunch of grapes displayed frontally, with individual berries rendered as small pellets arranged in a compact, roughly triangular cluster. The vine fruit is depicted in a stylized but naturalistic manner characteristic of Theban civic coinage of the fourth century BC. The Greek letters ΗΙ (abbreviated ethnic for Thebes) flank the grape bunch at lower left and lower right within the plain flat field. The incuse square technique imparts a slightly sunken appearance to the design.
