| Obverse description | Armored and crowned bust of Stefan Batory, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, facing right, depicted in three-quarter view wearing elaborately engraved plate armor with a ruff collar and a royal closed crown. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Renaissance style, with fine detailing on the pauldrons and gorget. A beaded inner border separates the portrait from the surrounding Latin legend reading STEPHANVS * D * G * REX * POLO * M * D * LIT, with rosette stops between abbreviated titles, running clockwise around the periphery. |
