Obverse description Boeotian shield depicted in high relief at center, its characteristic concave sides and lateral cutouts rendered with bold, sculptural modeling. The convex boss dominates the field, surrounded by a plain incuse border. The shield's distinctive shape, emblematic of the Boeotian League, is presented in a slightly off-center arrangement typical of hand-struck coinage of the period. The flan edges are irregular, consistent with archaic Greek minting practice.
