| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed head of the deified Alexander III (the Great) facing right, idealised in the Hellenistic tradition, wearing the ram's horn of Ammon curling forward behind the ear, symbolising divine descent from Zeus-Ammon. The hair is rendered in flowing, deeply engraved locks swept back from the forehead, with fine strands cascading to the neck. The portrait is executed in high relief with strong, sharply defined facial features characteristic of the posthumous Lysimachean coinage. A diadem is tied around the head, its ends visible behind the neck. |
