Reverse description Athena Nikephoros seated left upon a throne, her right hand extending forward holding a small Nike (Victory), her left arm resting upon a large round shield set at her side; a long transverse spear rises diagonally in the background behind her. The royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ ('of King Lysimachus') runs along the right and upper fields, while the Byzantion civic monogram appears to the inner left of the goddess and the letters ΒΥ (abbreviation for Byzantion) are inscribed below the throne. An ornate trident, the civic emblem of Byzantion, occupies the exergue, serving as the principal mint mark distinguishing this issue.
