Obverse description Distinctive Boeotian shield depicted facing, rendered in high relief with a convex central boss occupying most of the field. The shield's characteristic scalloped cutouts are clearly visible at the left and right sides, faithfully reproducing the form of the regional defensive equipment that served as the civic emblem of the Boeotian League. The flan is irregular in outline, typical of early fourth-century BC hammered silver coinage from central Greece.
