The shield's convex surface dominates the field, framed by a beaded border and set within a recessed circular boundary. The design is executed with fine craftsmanship typical of the Theban mint of this period, emphasizing the shield's three-dimensional form. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large, finely detailed volute-handled amphora occupies the center of the field, its body decorated with a horizontal band of vertical fluting at the shoulder and a stepped foot. A laurel wreath is draped across the mouth of the vessel between the two scrolled handles. The Greek magistrate's legend HI-KE (HIKE) is inscribed in archaic Greek characters, divided to the left and right of the amphora in the lower field. The entire design is set within a shallow incuse square, consistent with hammered coinage of the Boeotian federation. |
