Thebes issued this stater during one of the most turbulent stretches in Greek interstate politics — a period bookended by the Corinthian War and the destruction of the city by Alexander in 338 BC. The magistrate name Euwara appears on issues catalogued by Hepworth, placing this piece within a sequence of named-magistrate staters that allow unusually precise attribution within the Boiotian series.
