| Obverse description | Facing Boeotian shield rendered in high relief, the characteristic cutout notches on each side clearly delineated within a double-line border. The convex surface of the shield dominates the field, with the two lateral openings framed by precise angular recesses, presenting the iconic emblem of the Boeotian League in a bold and confident die-engraving style typical of the Theban mint. |

Thebes issued this stater during one of the most turbulent stretches in Greek interstate politics — a period bookended by the Corinthian War and the destruction of the city by Alexander in 338 BC. The magistrate name Euwara appears on issues catalogued by Hepworth, placing this piece within a sequence of named-magistrate staters that allow unusually precise attribution within the Boiotian series.
