| Beschrijving keerzijde | Amphora (oinochoe) depicted facing, with two upswept handles, set within a linear border; the vessel rests on a short stem and is rendered in fine relief with carefully detailed body and neck. Above the amphora appears a horizontal row of pellets or a vine-tendril motif. Thebes struck this stater during one of the most turbulent decades in Boiotian history — the period immediately preceding the Spartan seizure of the Kadmeia in 382 BC, when a pro-Spartan faction handed over the citadel to Phoibidas without a declaration of war. The occupation would last until 379 BC and effectively suspended Theban coinage production for the duration.
The magistrate name Eche places this piece within a narrow, datable sequence of issues identified by Hepworth's die study. Few Boiotian federal staters can be attributed to specific magistrates with this degree of confidence.
