Obverse description Facing gorgoneion rendered in archaic style, the creature depicted full-face with mouth agape and tongue protruding between bared teeth. Six coiled serpents rise dramatically from the head, while two additional serpents emanate from below the ears. A tunny fish (tuna), the civic badge of Kyzikos, is placed in the lower field facing left, serving as the mint's characteristic control symbol.

Reverse description Plain quadripartite incuse square of irregular form, divided into four recessed compartments by a raised cross, characteristic of early Greek hammered coinage produced by the mill-sail or swastika punch technique. The incuse is deeply struck and occupies nearly the full reverse field, with uneven granular texture visible within the sunken quarters.
