| Reverse description | Forepart of Pegasus to the left, depicted with a finely detailed winged horse protome in high relief; the raised foreleg and outstretched wing are rendered with accomplished naturalism, the mane shown in a series of carefully incised curls. The wing feathers are articulated in bold relief, sweeping prominently across the upper field. The composition is set against a plain field with no legend, consistent with the aniconic reverse tradition of Lampsakene gold staters. A pierced hole is visible at the lower portion of the flan, a later alteration for suspension use. |
