Obverse description Head of Perseus in left profile, wearing the characteristic winged helmet (pteryges visible above the brow); the hero's facial features are rendered in the archaic style typical of Kyzikene coinage of the late sixth to mid-fifth century BC. To the right of the head, a tunny fish is depicted in downward-swimming orientation, serving as the civic badge (episemon) of Kyzikos and a constant element on the city's electrum coinage. The relief is bold and slightly rounded, consistent with the hammered flan technique. No inscriptions appear in the field.
