| Obverse description | A nude male figure, rendered in high relief in the archaic Greek style, is depicted wrestling or subduing a kneeling bull. The figure straddles the animal from above, grasping it forcefully with both arms, the bull shown in profile facing left with its head lowered. The composition is dynamically executed within the irregular flan, with fine musculature visible on the human figure. A small tunny fish, the civic badge of Kyzikos, appears below the principal design in the lower field. The entire scene is set against a plain, slightly granular field characteristic of Kyzikene electrum coinage. |
