| Obverse description | Two nude male wrestlers depicted in high relief, facing each other at center, each grasping the other's arms in a standing lock; the figures are rendered in a vigorous, naturalistic style characteristic of late Classical Pamphylian coinage. The musculature of both athletes is carefully articulated, conveying movement and tension. The scene is set on a groundline, with the wrestlers' bodies slightly inclined toward one another. The field is plain, and the design is enclosed by a beaded border running along the upper periphery of the flan. |
