| Obverse description | Facing head of Artemis rendered in fine Hellenistic style, the goddess depicted full-face with an ornate stephanos adorned with acanthus leaf motifs. Triple pendant earrings hang from each ear and a decorative necklace encircles the neck. The hair is styled in tight waves beneath the stephanos, framing the face with careful artistic detail. The facing portrait type is characteristic of the advanced die-cutting tradition of the Troad region circa the mid-fourth century BC. |
