| Obverse description | A nude youth straddles a dolphin leaping to the left, his extended right hand grasping a tunny fish by the tail. The figure is rendered in the archaic Ionian style with careful attention to musculature and proportion. Below the dolphin, a second tunny fish is depicted swimming to the left, serving as the characteristic Kyzikene control device. The flan is of irregular oval form typical of early electrum coinage, with a slightly convex fabric. No inscriptions appear in the field. |
