Obverse description Facing head of a youthful deity — most likely Kore or a local river god — rendered in fine archaic-to-classical style, the visage depicted in three-quarter view with large almond-shaped eyes, full lips, and elaborately arranged hair falling in layered tresses to either side. The head is crowned with a Attic helmet adorned with a raised crest, characteristic of Kyzikene coinage of the classical period. A tunny fish (the civic emblem of Kyzikos) is rendered beneath the neck, serving as the identifying badge of the mint. The relief is bold and well-modelled, occupying nearly the entire flan, with no legend or inscription present.
