| Obverse description | Forepart of a sphinx facing left, rendered in fine archaic relief, with a human male head displaying carefully incised hair and beard, folded wings with detailed feather engraving, and forepaws extended forward. Beneath the sphinx, a tunny fish is depicted diagonally, oriented to the left, serving as the characteristic Kyzikene device. The composition fills the broadly rounded flan with confident, bold modeling typical of the finest Archaic Greek die-cutting. The tunny, an emblematic symbol of Kyzikos, anchors the lower field and serves as a type-identifier for this series. |

| Reverse description | A deeply struck quadripartite incuse square dominates the entire reverse field, divided by two perpendicular grooves into four recessed compartments of alternating relief, characteristic of early Greek hammered coinage technique. The incuse is boldly impressed and irregular in outline, conforming to the shape of the flan. No inscriptions or subsidiary devices are present. The rough, granular texture of the incuse surface is consistent with the primitive punch method employed at Kyzikos during the Archaic period. |
