Reverse description A tall cross potent, with pronounced serifs at each arm terminal, mounted on a tiered base of four steps rising from the lower field. The composition is severe and symmetrical, typical of late sixth-century Byzantine gold coinage. The circular legend VICTORIA AVGG is disposed around the cross in the field, with the officina letter Θ incorporated. The exergual inscription OB+* denotes the mint of Theoupolis (Antioch) and the gold purity mark.
