Obverse description Frontal bust of Emperor Tiberius II Constantine, helmeted and cuirassed, with pendilia hanging from the helmet on either side of the face. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand and a decorated shield in his left, the latter bearing a horseman motif. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic hieratic Byzantine style, with a broad, forward-facing visage and elaborate military attire. The circular Latin legend is disposed around the effigy.
