| Obverse description | Frontal bust of Emperor Theodosius III, depicted in full imperial regalia, wearing a crown surmounted by a cross and adorned with a lozenge-patterned loros draped across the shoulders. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand and an akakia in his left, both attributes of Byzantine imperial authority. The effigy is rendered in the characteristic flat, hieratic style of early eighth-century Byzantine coinage. A circular legend in debased Latin runs along the outer border of the field, with a beaded inner border framing the portrait. |
