Obverse description Frontal facing bust of Mezezius, depicted with short beard and elongated mustache, clad in imperial cuirass and plumed helmet surmounted by a frontal cross. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand, while his left arm bears a shield decorated with a horseman motif. The legend surrounding the bust reads D N MЄZЄZIVS PP AVЧ in debased Greek-Latin characters, distributed across the obverse field.

Reverse description A bold cross potent on base, set upon three graduated steps rising from the lower field, occupying the full vertical axis of the reverse. The exergue below bears the mint and officina mark CONOB, denoting gold of the highest purity struck at Constantinople or a controlled mint. The surrounding circular legend VICTORIA AVGЧ with officina letter Є is distributed around the periphery, rendered in the characteristic debased script of late seventh-century Byzantine coinage.
