| Reverse description | Facing busts of co-rulers Constantine VII and Zoe, both crowned, arranged side by side. Constantine VII appears at left wearing imperial chlamys fastened at the right shoulder with a fibula, while the Empress Zoe appears at right vested in the jewelled loros. Between and above them, both rulers jointly support a tall patriarchal cross with their inner hands. The composition follows the canonical Byzantine joint-ruler solidus type, with the figures rendered in strict frontal hieratic style. Legends identifying the two rulers are disposed in the field flanking the busts. |
