| Beschrijving voorzijde | Frontal bust of Emperor Constans II, bearded with long beard and moustache, draped in chlamys and wearing a plumed crown, holding a globus cruciger in his right hand. The obverse legend runs along the periphery and terminates with an officina mark denoting the workshop of issue. The portrait is rendered in the formal, hieratic Byzantine style characteristic of seventh-century gold coinage. The field is flat and the bust is boldly struck in high relief typical of Constantinopolitan solidi of this period. |
