Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Carl XIV Johan facing right, set within a beaded inner circle. The king's portrait is rendered in a classical style with fine detail to the laurel wreath and facial features. The peripheral legend runs along the outer rim, separated from the bust by the inner circle. The effigy is executed in relatively low relief, consistent with a pattern or trial striking.

Obverse lettering CARL XIV SVERIGES NORR. G. O. V.KONUNG
(Translation: Carl XIV king of Sweden, Norway, the Goths and the Wends.)
Reverse description The Three Crowns of Sweden, the traditional heraldic emblem of the realm, are displayed prominently in the upper field above a two-line inscription. Below the inscription, two crossed palm branches form a decorative element at the base of the design. The date 1831 appears as part of the central legend, identifying this piece as a minting trial or pattern strike. The overall composition is well-centred and cleanly struck.
