The Trinovantes occupied territory roughly corresponding to modern Essex and southern Suffolk, and by the mid-first century BC were navigating increasingly direct pressure from the Catuvellauni to their northwest. This coin likely circulated during that contested period, possibly under Addedomaros, who is credited with reasserting Trinovantian independence before Caesar's expeditions fundamentally altered the political calculus of southeastern Britain.
ABC 2377 is a relatively scarce variety within the broader Trinovantian silver series. The low weight reflects a widespread late Iron Age trend of reducing flan mass without abandoning the silver denomination entirely.
