Obverse description Facing gorgoneion (Medusa head) depicted in archaic style, with wide-open eyes, broad flat nose, and protruding tongue flanked by prominent fangs. The visage is framed by a mass of coiling serpentine hair radiating outward, rendered in high relief with considerable plastic detail. The facial features display the characteristic apotropaic grimace of the type, with boldly modeled cheeks and chin. Two dolphins are positioned flanking the gorgoneion in the field, serving as the series identifier. The value mark X (denoting 10 asses) appears in the field.
