Obverse description Central field dominated by the crowned Visconti biscione (a coiled serpent devouring a child), rendered in high relief within a beaded inner circle. The serpent's body is depicted with fine scale detail, surmounted by a prominent crown at top. The ducal initials flank the device to left and right in the field. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial characters runs along the outer border of the flan.
