Additional information

Alfonso V of Aragon — "the Magnanimous" — spent the bulk of his reign in Naples after conquering it in 1443, leaving the Crown of Aragon's Iberian territories largely governed by his queen, Maria of Castile, as lieutenant general. Valencian silver coinage continued under his name throughout this absence, sometimes for decades without any administrative contact with the king himself.

Cru#862 is among the more frequently encountered of his Valencian reals, though die alignment irregularities are common across the type — a product of the Valencia mint's known inconsistency during this period.
