Obverse description Laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the classicising Augustan style with finely detailed hair and laurel wreath. The legend IMP CAESAR is disposed around the periphery of the flan in capital Latin characters. The portrait exhibits the idealized, youthful treatment characteristic of Augustan imperial coinage, with regular facial features and a firm jaw. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hammered bronze coinage of the period.
