Obverse description Cyrillic inscription arranged in four lines across the field, divided by a ruled horizontal line. The legend reads the abbreviated titulature of Grand Prince Vasily, rendered in early medieval Russian Cyrillic characters. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hammered copper coinage of the period, with letters partially visible toward the edges due to the irregular striking surface.
