| Popis líce | Facing ducal head positioned above a stylized lily, the lateral petals of which are replaced by two confronted horse heads, a characteristic Styrian heraldic device. The central motif is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, itself surrounded by an outer fretwork or lattice border. The design is rendered in the angular, high-relief style typical of medieval Austrian hammered bracteate-influenced pfennigs. Frederick III of Styria — known as "the Fair" — spent much of his reign locked in a bitter dispute with Louis IV of Bavaria over the Holy Roman Imperial throne, a conflict that destabilized Habsburg financial administration across the Austrian duchies for decades.
