Obverse description Within a plain linear border, a spread eagle displayed with wings raised occupies the upper portion of the field; below the eagle, a rounded arch frames a horizontally-striped heraldic shield, characteristic of the Styrian arms. The design is rendered in the bold, schematic style typical of 14th-century Austrian bracteate-influenced pfennigs, struck on a thin, irregularly-shaped flan by the hammered technique. No legend or inscription is present.
