| Reverse description | Central voided cross pattée with a pellet at the centre, from which radiate eight additional small cross-pommée or fleur-de-lis ornaments, forming a distinctive wheel or star-like design characteristic of the Profile type penny. The inner field is enclosed by a plain inner circle, beyond which the moneyer and mint legend is inscribed in two segments separated by the arms of the cross. The outer border features a continuous pattern of stylised leaf or wedge-shaped ornaments interspersed between the legend letters, a decorative feature common to Anglo-Norman hammered pennies of this period. |
