Obverse description Facing crowned bust of King William II, rendered in the flat, stylised manner characteristic of late 11th-century Anglo-Norman hammered coinage. The effigy is draped and depicted holding a sword upright over the right shoulder. The crown is shown with prominent cross-topped finials. The royal legend is inscribed in the surrounding field, separated by small crosses, reading + ǷILLELM RE+.

Reverse description A bold cross pattée is superimposed over a cross fleury set in saltire, creating an eight-armed composite design that fills the central field. Trefoil fleur-de-lis terminals of the fleury cross are clearly visible between the arms of the pattée. The design is contained within an inner circle, with the moneyer's name and mint name inscribed in the outer legend in Anglo-Saxon characters, identifying the moneyer as Nireworth and the mint as Tamworth (Tæmworth).
