Reverse description A voided short cross pattée at centre, with each quadrant containing a group of three annulets arranged in a triangular formation, giving the type its name. The cross divides the inner field into four quadrants and is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. An outer annular legend names the moneyer and mint. The design is struck in the characteristic flat, low relief of early 12th-century English hammered silver, with bold lettering arranged around the periphery.
