Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of King Eadred facing right, rendered in the bold, schematic style characteristic of late Anglo-Saxon coinage. The effigy features a prominent helmet or crown with a single visible point, and the drapery is indicated by incised lines across the shoulder. A circular legend in Latin runs around the periphery of the flan, naming the king. The die work is vigorous, with strong relief on the portrait despite the irregular flan.
