Reverse description A plain cross pattee occupying the central field, dividing the coin into four quadrants. The cross is bold and deeply struck, consistent with hammered Capetian monetary production. The surrounding Latin legend reads PAISIVS CIVITAS, identifying Paris as the city of issue. The flan edges are irregular and chipped, characteristic of eleventh-century hammered half-deniers of the Paris mint.
