| Obverse description | Bust of Yazdgard I facing right, wearing a distinctive Sasanian mural crown surmounted by a crescent and globe, with a korymbos (hair-bundle) rising above. The king's face is rendered in stylized profile with a prominent eye, and a short beard. The bust is set within a beaded border typical of Sasanian minor coinage, with the field otherwise plain. The overall style is characteristic of the early fifth-century Sasanian die-cutting tradition, rendered in low relief on a small, irregular flan. |
