Obverse description A prominent cross pattée with expanded terminals occupies the central field, set within a beaded inner circle. The cross arms are boldly struck in the Carolingian manner, with a small central pellet at the intersection. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner border, reading the royal titulature of Odo, King of the Franks. The flan is irregular, as typical of ninth-century hammered West Frankish coinage, with the legend partially visible around the periphery.
