Obverse description Facing bust of the bishop in high relief, turned slightly to the left, depicted in schematic Romanesque style characteristic of early 12th-century episcopal bracteates. The figure holds a crozier, the pastoral staff symbolic of episcopal authority, rendered in a stylized manner. The portrait is framed by concentric curved lines suggesting a circular border, with the broad flat flan showing the typical irregular edge of a hammered bracteate. The design is executed with the simple but expressive line work typical of Würzburg ecclesiastical coinage of the period.
