| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts a stylized hand holding a crozier (bishop's pastoral staff), rendered in the rough, low-relief manner characteristic of early 12th-century French feudal coinage. The design is enclosed within a inner circle. The surrounding legend, reading BVCARDVS EPSV, identifies the issuing prelate, Bishop Bouchard, and runs along the outer periphery of the flan. The lettering is in coarse Latin capitals typical of Romanesque ecclesiastical issues. The overall strike is irregular, consistent with hand-hammered production of the period. |
