| Obverse description | Facing crowned royal head depicted in a stylized, archaic manner characteristic of late 13th-century Hungarian hammered coinage. The crowned effigy occupies the central field, with the crown rendered with prominent pellets and cross finial. The facial features are boldly but crudely struck, with wide eyes and a schematic nose and mouth. The surrounding legend REX ANDREAS runs around the periphery in Latin characters, though the irregular flan causes portions of the inscription to be partially visible. The overall design reflects the primitive engraving style typical of the Árpád-era royal deniers and their fractions. |
