Reverse description A large, pendulous bunch of grapes rendered in detailed relief, centrally positioned within a recessed incuse square. The cluster is depicted with individual berries carefully articulated in a naturalistic manner, suspended as if hanging from a vine. Partial letters of the civic ethnic legend ΜΑΡΩ appear in the upper corners of the incuse square, flanking the bunch left and right, identifying the issuing city of Maroneia. The incuse technique creates a strong contrast between the raised grape cluster and the sunken square border.
