Obverse description A kantharos (two-handled wine cup) depicted in profile at centre, rendered with volute handles and a pronounced foot, occupying the majority of the field. Four pellets are arranged around the vessel in the four quadrants of the field. The Greek letter kappa (Κ) appears as a control mark in the lower right field, serving as a mint or magistrate symbol. The design is executed in the compact, schematic style characteristic of Tarentine small silver coinage of the late Classical to early Hellenistic period.
