Cilicia in the fourth century produced an extraordinary number of small silver fractions from cities and dynasts whose precise identities remain contested — many issues were struck by semi-autonomous rulers operating under loose Achaemenid suzerainty before Alexander's campaigns swept the region clean of Persian administrative structures after 333 BC. Attribution of these tiny pieces is genuinely difficult: Sunrise and Klein sometimes diverge on civic versus dynastic origin, and this obol sits in that unresolved space.

At under 0.6 g, these fractions circulated as genuine working money in local markets, not as prestige issues.
