| Opis awersu | Facing bust of Emperor Justinian I, helmeted and draped, rendered in the characteristic frontal Byzantine style. The helmet features a pronounced crest and lateral plumes visible at the sides, with a decorative beaded or crested brow. The emperor's facial features are presented in a schematic, hieratic manner typical of late antique provincial coinage from the Carthage mint. The monogram is rendered in bold, deeply struck relief characteristic of Carthaginian nummus issues. No exergual inscription or additional field marks are present, consistent with the small module of this denomination. The wreath border is the sole decorative framing element. |
